CCSD Receives Cognia Accreditation

Chesterfield County School District is delighted to announce its achievement of Cognia Accreditation, a significant milestone for the District. Cognia, a distinguished nonprofit organization specializing in quality assurance for educational institutions, serves as the umbrella organization for the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Formerly known as AdvancED, Cognia grants national recognition to districts that uphold rigorous standards focused on cultivating productive learning environments, ensuring equitable resource allocation tailored to students' needs, and demonstrating effective leadership. To attain Cognia accreditation, a district must undergo a continuous improvement process and subject itself to internal and external evaluations. Schools in good standing can maintain their accreditation for a six-year term.

The attainment of accreditation from the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission confirms that all schools within Chesterfield County School District are accredited. Furthermore, it positions the district as a nationally recognized entity aligned with Cognia Performance Standards and committed to ongoing improvement.  Cognia also offers a range of resources, tools, and professional development opportunities to accredited districts to support ongoing improvement efforts. These resources may include research-based practices, networking opportunities, and access to expert guidance and support.

Dr. Chan Anderson, Superintendent of Chesterfield County School District, states that accreditation by the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission endorses the District with a nationally esteemed mark of excellence. It reflects the District's steadfast dedication to excellence, openness to external evaluation and feedback, and enduring commitment to enhancing our students' educational experiences. It also provides assurance to our stakeholders, including parents, students, and the community, that the district is committed to continuous improvement and adheres to high standards.
