District announces extended partnership with sheriff’s office

With the new extended partnership the district will be placing full time SROs in our middle schools as well. With the placement of SROs in middle schools, the district will be able to increase student safety, have character education classes, and have students develop a positive relationship with a Sheriff’s Deputy.
“We are pleased to forge this extended relationship with our Sheriff’s Department,” says Dr. Harrison Goodwin, superintendent of Chesterfield County School District. “With this addition, the deputies can also visit the feeder elementary schools and develop relationships with them as well. We stress safety as our top priority. To add our middle schools to the yearly agreement has our district moving in a positive direction as it relates to student safety.”
Sheriff Rob Lee added, “We are extremely pleased to be able to begin this initiative with the school district. As law enforcement, we know the value of having an SRO present at the schools. In addition to their responsibilities at their home school we will also have them go to the feeder schools. This will only help build trust and relationships with our SRO and the school’s students and staffs.”
