Board extends superintendent's contract

The superintendent prepared an assessment of the district’s continuing efforts toward achieving various goals in the following areas:

* Continuing our thrust to focus on literacy for all students with emphasis on early grades;

* Chesterfield County School District is now in the top 25% academically in the state. We hope and expect to make the necessary adjustments to meet the new state and federal accountability standards and to continue our progress in the area of student achievement;

* Continuing our thrust to stabilize our financial standing; and

* Continuing to recruit and retain the best personnel for this district.

 The School Board is pleased with the outstanding leadership that Dr. Goodwin continues to provide. We commend him for his tireless dedication to our students and community and look forward to working with him for many years to come. Dr. Goodwin has demonstrated his dedication and commitment to continuous improvement in all areas of our district.

 Dr. Goodwin again received high marks from the School Board and was awarded five (5) additional vacation days in his new contract. His contract currently extends through June 30, 2018.
