Effective September 2, 2014, all students enrolled and attending Chesterfield County School District will receive free breakfasts and lunches, thanks to the district’s involvement in a new Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs. At the same time, new nutritional regulations will limit what foods schools can sell in and out of the cafeterias. The new programs are designed to ensure all students have access to healthy, nutritionally balanced meals while they are at school. Under the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), all children attending a school in the Chesterfield County School District will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. Students and their families do not need to complete meal applications to receive the free meals for this school year. The monies supporting the CEP come(s) from the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010, an amended section of the National School Lunch Act.
This program is being implemented as a one (1) year pilot program for the 2014-15 school year. The program will be re-evaluated at the end of the school year to determine future continuation.

Parents or guardians that do not want their child/children to participate in CEP may wish to discuss this matter with Missy Brown (Coordinator of School Food Services) on an informal basis.
Parents wishing to make a formal appeal may make a request either orally or in writing to Chesterfield County School District: 401 West Blvd, Chesterfield, SC 29709, for a hearing to appeal the decision.
