District receives art grant

The district received the maximum award in the amount of $40,000. The purpose of the DAP grant  is to assist schools and districts in developing and implementing arts initiatives that support quality arts education programs that significantly improve student achievement in the arts through curriculum, instruction, and assessment based on the implementation of the 2010 South Carolina Academic Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts.  
Funds from this grant will be used to purchase supplies and materials for art and music classes, band instruments, technology and multimedia equipment, support artist in residence programs and provide professional development opportunities for fine arts teachers.
