The finalists were selected based on the principals’ written recommendations by a panel of educators. The three finalists are Jennifer Dillon (Central High School), Fran Hunsucker (Plainview Elementary School), and Ashley Barrett (Cheraw High School).
In the fall, principals submitted the names of Distinguished Reading Teachers to represent their schools.
“These teachers encourage the love of reading as a lifelong habit and are continually promoting literacy among their students,” says Wendy Folsom, the district’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “Their classrooms are literacy-rich environments where students are immersed in reading and writing every day. All these teachers are wonderful examples of Distinguished Reading Teachers and are outstanding representatives for their schools and the district.”
