Rivers named new principal at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle

Rivers began his teaching career in the Chesterfield County School District as a math teacher at Cheraw High School in 2007. In 2012 to date, he has served as an assistant principal at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School.
 
Rivers is certified to serve as a principal in the state of South Carolina. In 2007, he earned his Bachelors degree in Mathematics from Francis Marion University. In 2012, he earned his Master of Education degree in Education Administration from Grand Canyon University. In 2015, Mr. Rivers earned his Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. He has also been an active participant in the Chesterfield County Aspiring Principals program.
 
“Mr. Rivers is an active member of the Chesterfield community and our school district,” says Chesterfield County Schools Superintendent Dr. Harrison Goodwin. “Through the years, he has prepared himself to be an effective principal at Chesterfield Ruby Middle School. I am confident that he will be deeply invested into serving his school’s students, staff, and stakeholders.”
 
“I believe that all students are capable of learning when instruction is tailored to meet their needs,” says Rivers. "It is our responsibility to provide a safe environment that is student-centered, with instruction designed to maximize student potential. This has always been my belief and commitment and it will continue in this new role at Chesterfield-Ruby Middle School.”
