Mr. Mabe started his career in Richmond County Schools in 1996 teaching physical education, math, and science. While there, he also became an interim Assistant Principal at Rohanen Junior High School. In August 2006, he served as an Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at New Century Middle School in Moore County. Mr. Mabe then returned to Richmond County to become the Assistant Principal at Ellerbe Junior High School. In August 2008, he became Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Richmond Senior High School. In 2014, he transitioned to the district level to become the Assistant Transportation Director for Richmond County Schools. In 2016, he returned to the school level to become an Assistant Principal at Mineral Springs Elementary School. From August 2017 until June 2023, he was the Principal at Ashley Chapel Educational Center. In his most recent position, he serves as the Dropout Prevention Coordinator for Richmond County Schools.
Mr. Mabe earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pembroke State University, a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University, and an Educational Specialist with Administration and Supervision from East Carolina University.
Mr. Mabe has been married for over 20 years to his wife, Ellen who is also an educator. Together they have one son, Wil, who is attending North Carolina State University.
