Palmera Named Principal of Cheraw High School beginning with the 2024-2025 School Year

Mr. Palmera began his career in education in 1992 teaching English and French in Santa Marta, Colombia until 2004.  In 2004, he served as the Director and Academic Coordinator of the Universidad del Magdalena Language Center for three years. In 2008, he served as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in Raleigh, North Carolina. The following year, Mr. Palmera accepted a position in Chesterfield County School District as a Spanish teacher at Cheraw High School where he taught for 13 years. In 2022, Mr. Palmera was selected as the Assistant Principal for Long Middle School where he has served for the last two years. 

Mr. Palmera earned a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Languages from Universidad del Magdalena and a Master of Arts in Education from Universidad del Norte.  In 2019, Mr. Palmera obtained an Education Administrative Licensure from Wingate University and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Wingate University. Mr. Palmera has served on various district committees and is a graduate of the District’s Aspiring Principals Program.

 

Mr. Palmera currently resides in Cheraw, SC with his wife Kellys Vargas, and two children, Andres and Emory.
