Jennifer Byrd, teacher at McBee Elementary, has 15 years of prior teaching experience and has taught 6 of these years in our district. Her principal states, “I could not be more proud of Mrs. Byrd for this accomplishment. This accomplishment illustrates Mrs. Byrd’s dedication to the profession as she has, for as long as I’ve know her, been dedicated to growing as a professional. Mrs. Byrd is a lifelong learner who pushes herself so that she can best help the students in her classroom. I speak for the entire McBee Elementary family when I say we are extremely proud of Mrs. Byrd.”
Anna Hancock, teacher at Petersburg Elementary, has been teaching a total of 23 years and all of these years have been with Chesterfield County School District. Her principal states, “Anna Hancock is one of those teachers that make you proud as a principal each and every day. She has super classroom management, creates a warm and engaging classroom environment, is a friend and wonderful coworker to everyone else on staff, and is a team player, as well as a ready and willing leader. Mrs. Hancock gives her time, expertise, and love to the children of Petersburg with great devotion. She is a true professional.”
Nina Quick, teacher at Cheraw Primary, has been teaching a total of 18 years and all of these years of teaching have been in Chesterfield County School District. Her principal says, “Mrs. Nina Quick works tirelessly each day to ensure that students are passionate about literacy and learning. Her compassion for students and learning is evident as she incorporates strategies that ‘fuel the flames’ for reluctant readers and produces knowledgeable and excited learners. She ascribes to the belief that all children can learn. Mrs. Quick is an advocate for students and is dedicated to academic excellence for all students. She is an invaluable resource to our school and is most deserving of this prestigious recognition.”
Individuals who receive renewal must submit evidence linking professional growth, involvement, and service to student learning. NBPTS indicates the basis for NBC Renewal is the expectation that “NBCTs will use both the Five Core Propositions and the Architecture of Accomplished Teaching as the foundation for what they continue to do in the classroom and for themselves as lifelong learners who continue to grow and enhance student learning.”
