Melton named the district teacher of the year

Natalie Melton of Edwards Elementary School was named the Chesterfield County School District Teacher of the Year in the annual ceremonies held May 9.
Melton, a 10-year veteran of the classroom, is also a native of Chesterfield County.
“Since I was a little girl, the only career I ever wanted was to become a teacher,” she says. “I have always wanted to help others in the ways my teachers inspired and encouraged me.”
After pursuing her degree and experiencing what life was like as the teacher inside the classroom, she was hooked, she explained.
“There are truly no words that can accurately describe watching a young child grow and transform right before your very eyes,” she says. “Knowing I get to play a role in that transformation is a privilege that I cherish every day.”

Melton will represent the district in state teacher of the year functions and will participate in the state’s teacher of the year competition.
