March 15: Governor to close all schools

S.C. Governor Henry McMaster has ordered all of the state’s schools closed through March 31, effectively immediately. We are finalizing plans for at home instruction, as well as food service options, and we will release those details as soon as we have them.

March 12 Coronavirus update from CCSD

We would like to share a brief update on the responses to Covid-19.  At the time of this update, the State Department of Education, DHEC and the Governor’s office are advising districts and schools to continue business as usual.

While there have been several rumors related to students and staff in Chesterfield County School District testing positive for the virus, as of the writing of this memo, we have not been informed by DHEC of any positive tests.  If there are positive tests, we will follow the direction of DHEC.

Jr Scholars visit Limestone

On March 10th, our 10th grade Junior Scholars visited Limestone College. College staff welcomed them before they attended special classes about Communications, Psychology, History, Education and Biology.

CCSD issues statement on Coronavirus

Chesterfield County School District Family:
We have received guidance on the emerging outbreak of a new coronavirus. The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has confirmed at least two cases in South Carolina.

Jr Scholars travel to Winthrop

Nine of our CCSD 9th Grade Jr. Scholars traveled to Winthrop University on March 4th. They learned about the importance of GPA in high school and about researching for the perfect college, technical school, etc. for their futures. They also had a great meal in the dining hall.

Three district teachers renew National Board certification

Chesterfield County School District has a total 37 teachers who are National Board Certified.  This school year, we had three educators to renew their certificates.  The three educators who renewed in 2019-2020 were Lauren Griggs from Edwards Elementary School, Kadee Herring from Edwards Elementary School, and Donna Teal from Long Middle School.

Cheraw FBLA competes at district level

Cheraw High School's Future Business Leaders of America attended their first FBLA competition of the year at the District III Leadership Conference in Florence on January 25.  Students are able to choose their individual or group event from a wide range of topics.
