Commitment to Inclusion

Chesterfield County School District is dedicated to providing an inclusive educational environment where every staff,  student, parent, and community member has equal access to information. Our commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures that our physical campuses and digital platforms are designed with everyone in mind—removing barriers and fostering a culture of belonging for all abilities.

    1. Staff member makes a request to Human Resources for an accommodation.
    2. An HR representative will explain the process and provide the employee with the ADA Accommodation Medical Certification form with the employee’s job description to have completed by the employee’s medical provider. In some cases, a note from the doctor can be used instead.
    3. The HR representative will evaluate the request from the medical provider to determine if the employee can complete the job’s key characteristics and physical requirements with the requested accommodation. The HR representative, the supervisor, and employee will communicate to determine the specific needs and the ways the district can accommodate the employee.
    4. Employees, their supervisors, and the director of human resources are notified of the determination.
    5. Copies of the documents are kept in the employee’s personnel file.
