Sex Offenders Registry
Sex Offender's Registry
In 2008, a former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford signed into law House Bill 3094. This law requires all South Carolina school districts to make sure parents know how to access information about registered sex offenders who live near school bus stops.
What This Means for Parents
- School districts are not responsible for creating or maintaining offender lists.
- Districts must tell parents where and how to find the information.
- The official source is the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Sex Offender Registry.
Why This Matters
This law was designed to help keep families informed and increase awareness of potential risks near bus stops. Your child’s safety is a shared priority between parents, schools, and the community.
How to Access the Information
Enter your address or the location of your child’s bus stop using SLED’s Sex Offender’s Registry.
