Junior and Senior students from McBee High School had the opportunity to explore options with a local US Navy Recruiter recently.
MHS Agriculture Teacher Mr. Pat Earle paired up with the local US Navy Recruiter Petty Officer Travis Butcher to expose students to options available to them through the United States Navy.

Important information released about Community Eligibility Provision

Chesterfield County School District is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision for the 2014 - 2015 school year. Section 104(a) of the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 amended section 11(a)(1) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1759a(a)(1))(the law) to provide an alternative to household applications for free and reduced-price meals in local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with increased levels of low-income students.

District involved in new food program

Effective September 2, 2014, all students enrolled and attending Chesterfield County School District will receive free breakfasts and lunches, thanks to the district’s involvement in a new Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch & Breakfast Programs. At the same time, new nutritional regulations will limit what foods schools can sell in and out of the cafeterias. The new programs are designed to ensure all students have access to healthy, nutritionally balanced meals while they are at school. Extra meals and a la carte items will still be provided at an additional charge.

Duke Energy partners with McBee High to prep campus

Before 8:00 am on Aug. 15, over 30 employees from Duke Energy gathered at the front of McBee High School on their day off to prepare for the school’s first community clean-up day. Throughout the day, community members, parents, teachers, student organizations, and volunteers from Duke Energy worked diligently to clean the school’s trophy cases, pressure wash exterior entrances, wash walls and baseboards, sanitize and clean lockers, and clean science labs.

CCSD introduces new teachers

Aug. 14 - A New Teacher Orientation was held at the Palmetto Learning Center on Tuesday, August 12th. There were 56 educators in attendance with approximately 35 new to the profession and the remainder new to the district.

Cheraw Intermediate Awarded Math Grant

Cheraw Intermediate School has received the 2014-2015 School In-Service Training Grant for PreK-5 schools, granted by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) through the Mathematics Education Trust (MET).
