State updates bus mask requirements for all schools

With rising COVID infection rates statewide, the South Carolina Department of Education will require students in South Carolina to wear masks while on school buses. This goes into effect on Monday, August 30.

District to participate in Community Eligibility Provision

Chesterfield County School District is participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2021-2022 school year. Section 104(a) of the Healthy, Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 amended section 11(a)(1) of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (42 U.S.C. 1759a(a)(1))(the law) to provide an alternative to household applications for free and reduced-price meals in local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools with increased levels of low-income students.

District looks for input

Chesterfield County School District has been allocated funds under the America Rescue Plan.  We would like your input on how we prioritize the expenditure of the funds.

New McBee HS principal announced

Ms. Carolyn Caldwell has been named the new, interim principal of McBee High School, effective July 12, 2021.  She is replacing Dr. Josh McLaurin who has taken a position with the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

Federal programs planning meeting to be held

The Chesterfield County School District Federal Program’s Office will hold a virtual planning meeting to discuss and gain input on federally funded plans for the 2021-2022 School Year.

CCSD distributes summer reading packets

Chesterfield County School District’s Office of Federal Programs distributed summer reading book packets to the students attending the county’s Head Start Program.

DHEC makes mask waiver form available

In response to Gov. McMaster’s Executive Order on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 regarding face coverings in schools, the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) has developed a waiver that allows parents the option to opt out of the S.C. Department of Education mask mandate.
