Graduation Update for May 6, 2020

We would like to take this opportunity to give you an update on our 2020 graduation plans.  First, we would like to thank Governor McMaster and Superintendent Spearman for their efforts to allow the 2020 Graduating Class to have a graduation ceremony that is both meaningful and memorable.  Based on feedback the administration received from graduates, their families and our School Board, it is obvious that an in-person ceremony is the overwhelming choice.

Plans for graduation announced

Chesterfield County School District will be holding a modified graduation at each of the four high schools on Friday, May 29.

The ceremonies will be held in each school’s football stadium and Saturday, May 30 will be the inclement weather day.

NetSERVE cohort underway

Recruitment for the next cohort of NetSERVE Teacher Residents is underway!
Teacher Residents benefit from a 50% tuition reduction, 30 hour streamlined pathway to earning a Master of Arts in Teaching and licensure credentials to teach in South Carolina schools; a year-long $20,000 stipend supported internship; and a job placement guarantee in one of three high-needs, rural partner school districts.

New packet pick up (April 26 update)

We would like to update you on the pickup of this week’s instructional packets at your schools. Instructional packets can be picked up Wednesday, April 29th. Packets will include work for April 29th through May 12th.
All previous work that is completed should be turned in when you come to pick up new packets. Please follow the directions provided at each school.

Food services to continue (updated April 26)

The exceptional Food Services Department of Chesterfield County School District will continue to have those healthy meals available for the children of Chesterfield County.
For the week of April 27th, meals will be available beginning tomorrow, Monday through Wednesday. Breakfast and lunch for Thursdays and Fridays will also be given out on Wednesdays.

Wifi to be available through buses

Good afternoon Chesterfield County School District Families:
Beginning Monday, April 27, in coordination with the SC Department of Education, Chesterfield County School District will be deploying six school buses, now equipped with WiFi, at the same school sites where our meals are being distributed. As a reminder, those school sites are Petersburg Primary, Jefferson Elementary, McBee Elementary, Plainview Elementary, Cheraw Intermediate, and Chesterfield-Ruby Middle.

April 23 update: schools cancelled for the rest of the year

Dear CCSD parents: as you probably know, the governor has cancelled all S.C. schools for the rest of the year. Our meal programs will continue through at least the end of May. Also, learning packages will continue to be distributed and returned.
We realize that there are a lot of questions about graduations, particularly at our four high schools. We are still working on those plans.

Teacher Residency program available for Chesterfield County

The Teacher Residency program is a graduate program (earn a Master of Arts in Teaching from Winthrop University) and path to teacher certification for people with non-education undergraduate degrees who are interested in becoming teachers in a number of school districts, including Chesterfield County.
The program offers potential candidates a year-long residency, $20,000 living expense stipend, and a guaranteed teaching job in the participating district with successful completion of the program.
