CCSD Federal Programs office to hold planning meeting

The Chesterfield County School District Federal Programs Office will hold a planning meeting to discuss and gain input on the Title I, II, III, IV and V Plans for the 2019-2020 School Year. Central honors students for industry certifications

Pageland, SC (May 21, 2019) - Central High School is pleased to recognize nineteen agriculture students who earned industry certifications this academic year. Through the intensive certification program, these students have gained essential career skills in various Career and Technical Education (CTE) subject areas that will promote a successful transition to postsecondary education and theworkforce.

Students with these certifications have received the necessary background and knowledge in their respective fields of interest that will lead them to a valuable and meaningful career. To earn the certification, each student completed the required coursework and passed a rigorous final exam.

Students earn Microsoft certification

The above Cheraw High School students in Mrs. Tambra Watson's 2nd semester IBA II class earned their Microsoft Office Specialist certification in Word Expert 2016. The MOS certification is recognized worldwide and demonstrates students' level of proficiency in Word. Earning this industry level certification helps set students apart in the competitive job market and broadens their career opportunities. King named principal of New Heights Middle School

Omoro King has been named the new principal of New Heights Middle School. Since 2002, King has served in the Chesterfield County School District as a math teacher at McBee High School and Cheraw High School, as an assistant principal at Long Middle School, and as the principal of Jefferson Elementary since 2015.

CCSD student-athletes compete in Summer Games

Athletes from across the state converged on the Fort Jackson and enjoyed a weekend of competition and fun. Students from Chesterfield County School District attended the Summer Games as part of the Area 2 delegation. CCSD athletes competed in Masters Bocce (age 21 and up), Unified Doubles Bowling and Individual Bowling at Fort Jackson on May 11, 2019. Chesterfield County School District received two gold medals, four silver medals and three bronze medals.

Fine Arts completers honored with luncheon

On Wednesday, May 1, Chesterfield County Schools held its first annual Fine Arts Completer Luncheon at Central High School.  Seniors from all four high schools were recognized and presented with graduation honor cords.
Students may be considered “completers” in a fine arts area if they have passed all of their high school’s required coursework in either band, chorus, drama, or visual art with an A or B.

“We are very proud of these students, they have put in hours and hours of work over the last four years and are truly deserving of this honor,” said Central High Band Director, Geoff Mack.  McBee High School Art Teacher, Victoria Wade, added, “We are very thankful for the administration’s commitment to the fine arts in our district.”
